Who we are What We Sing Where We Meet Reviews Join Us !

We sing a broad range of music - the great classical works of course (examples below) but also songs, madrigals, spirituals and, in season, Christmas music. Songs in repertoire range from compositions by such as Mendelssohn, Elgar, Vaughan Williams and Finzi to contemporary composers such as Rutter, Chilcott and Willcocks and also to occasional songs from the shows by amongst others Gershwin and Loesser, and much-loved jazz spirituals such as When the Saints Go Marching In. Here are the main classical works sung in recent years as well as those planned for later this year.

As well as the two Full Chorus pieces, there are also classes for a madrigal, a partsong, a men's song and a women's song, and an open class for a piece of the choir's own choosing. Each division of four choirs has a different set of music, and sings on a different day. The competition element of the Leith Hill Musical Festival covers all classes and takes place in the morning. In the afternoon, the friendly rivalry of the competition is put aside for a combined reheasrsal, with orchestra, and in the evening a grand concert, when trophies are awarded for the morning's winners. The current Festival conductor is Jonathan Willcocks.
